Studio

With its office in Istanbul, Mar-Ka has more than twenty-year history in developing international projects in the fields of interior and landscape design, furniture and product design, and brand identity. The practice led by Kadriye Saral Manciocchi and Marco Manciocchi identifies itself as a "laboratory of ideas". In other words, it is an atelier open to creativity, in which various kinds of projects can be developed in close and positive collaboration with professional teams and experts.

Mar-Ka, in line with its own professional ethics, handles each project while favoring a simple and rational stylistic line. The practice pays meticulous attention to detail, never neglecting the search for harmony and elegance in forms. Furthermore, the practise always responds to the customer's questions in a practical and rapid manner, with direct follow-ups taking place during all phases of each single assignment, from the project concept to its final delivery.

The two co-founder partners of the studio, Kadriye and Marco during their 23 years of professional life, worked with a wide range of international companies including Lanier Copiers, Ricoh, Talesma Linens, Nashuatec Printers, Brother , Contex Textile, Anatolia Tile&Stone, Manuel Chocolatier.

Kadriye Saral Manciocchi

Co-Founding Partner, Design Principal and Project Manager

In 1995, after completing her BFA degree in Stage and Costume Design at Mimar Sinan University in Istanbul, she moved to Italy to continue her studies. In 1998, she was awarded a BDes degree in Interior Design at IED Institude in Rome and began working as an Interior Designer.

During her first work experience, which was with ABDR Architecture Studio, involved various architectural projects and international competitions, she was able to gain a wider perspective. In 2019, she joined the Lococo Architecture Studio, with whom she collaborated in the renovation of hotels and private homes in Rome.

In 2000 she moved to Istanbul and as Project Manager of the Interior Architecture Department, she joined to Saral Group, Construction Company owned by her family. She was involved in the large-scale residential complex project ‘Sunflower’, where she coordinated the design process and supervised the costruction of the interiors of numerous single-unit villas. She has developed different concepts over the years and acquared a considerable experience.

In the period from 2004 to 2007, she collaborated with various landscape companies, designing Hard-Landscape projects for public and private spaces. This experience has enabled her to become particularly skilled in combining indoor and outdoor spaces as extensions of each other.

Since January 2007, she has worked as co-founder of the Mar-Ka Interior + Landscape Architecture studio, where she directly follows the design and implementation of every single project carried out in Turkey and abroad.

Marco Manciocchi

Co-Founding Partner and Design Principal

In 1997, Marco graduated in Interior Design at IED Institude in Rome.

He collaborated with architects including A.Alessi, G.Pasquali, F. Moschini in particular in the design and construction of set-ups for artistic and cultural exhibitions.

In 2000, he moved to Istanbul and began his career as designer at Tabanlioglu Architecture Studio, where he was commissioned to design an ATM for one of the most important national banks.

From 2002 to 2006, he worked as Artistic Director and Design Consultant for various national and international companies, including Dekaneo, Burosit, Living Divani Turkey, BMS-Poltrona Frau Turkey.

In 2006, in collaboration with FY Furniture Company, he designed a range of products which created the collection called ‘Smyrna’, and at the same year exhibited at the Salone del Mobile in Milan.

Since January 2007, he has worked as co-founder of the Mar-Ka Interior + Landscape Architecture studio, where he is above all involved in the design and management of projects carried out in Turkey and abroad.

T. Miray Şenol

Landscape Project Architect and Office Manager

She obtained her degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Istanbul in 2005, at which point she began working with Mar-Ka Design.

During her time with the studio, she has been responsible for a wide variety of projects for landscape design, Cad drawings and 3D renderings.

Over the years, she has gained invaluable experience in coordinating out-source teams and studio administration.

Recognitions

  • In 2018 Atlanta USA, Coverings, the largest international tile & stone show in North America has announced Anatolia Tile & Stone Inc. booth which was designed by Marka, as one of the winners of the ‘Best Booth Award’ and honored with “Best Ambiance’’.
  • In 2015, Istanbul, TomTom Gardens, which was designed by Marka for landscape architecture, was honored the "Best Housing, Ongoing Project" award in the category of Best Housing Projects in the ‘Sign of The City Awards’.
  • In 2003 New York Home Textiles Show, ‘Best New Product Award’ honor in Bath Category was presented to Talesma Linens, which showcased the towel collection named ‘Gulcicek’ designed by Marka, with a unique concept, quality and technic.
  • In 1998 Kadriye Saral Manciocchi with the photo she captured at the Carnaval of Venice became one of the finalists of the ‘International Photography Competition’, organized by Canon and Venice Municipality.
  • In 1998 Rome, Italy, Marco Manciochi was honored with ‘Special Criticism Award’ in ‘National Design Competition’ which was orginized by Slamp Lighting.
